Salad Tips: Making a Simple Salad into Something Spectacular

Want to make a salad that looks this good? It’s easy. And trust me, it tastes just as good as it looks!

So sometimes I find that salad can be kind of boring, especially when you’re adding the same things all the time. You know, the typical lettuce, throw some veggies in and whatever Kraft dressing you have around the house, and you’ve got yourself a salad. Well, I started to get a bit tired of that, plus the blandness doesn’t exactly motivate me to eat healthy. So tonight I was making myself a a salad and I decided to add some more interesting ingredients.

Best thing you can add to a salad (in my opinion, of course) would have to be pomegranates. It adds something sweet and juicy. Then I found some crushed pecans which also add some great texture.

I find that I get tired of the same, typical dressings. You know, the Italian, Greek, or Ranch that you have in the cupboard. Well, I decided to use Lemon Peppercorn. This has probably become one of my favourite dressings. It’s different and it tastes so good! Having said that, it’s not the healthiest of dressings. It has 8g of fat and 100 calories in 2 tbsps, but as long as you’re not drenching your salad in dressings it’s not too bad. In a Kraft Calorie Wise Greek Dressing there is 45 calories and 4.5 of fat in 1 tbsp, so really, it’s not much different.

So feta is a pretty typical salad ingredient, but I pretty much can’t have a salad without feta. Well, I can, but I just prefer to add some delicious feta. One ingredient that might not be common for everybody is the addition of hemp hearts. Hemp hearts are shelled hemp seeds (not a real heart, just fyi). They have tons of health benefits: weight, energy, digestion, and so much more. Check out this link if you’re interested, and add some to your salad and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

Basically what I strive to do when creating a salad is to make it as colourful as possible. In this particular salad there was also the addition of dried cranberries, carrots, and red onion. So goooooood! Try using some of these ingredients in your next salad and I’m sure they won’t disappoint.

As per usual, taking the time to read my posts means the world :)
